What to see in Málaga

Málaga is not just history and culture; it’s also fun and entertainment for all tastes. From lively bars and terraces to outdoor activities, concerts, and events, the city offers plans to enjoy both day and night. Discover how to spend your free time and experience Málaga to the fullest.

Festivals and Fairs

It is perhaps one of the most anticipated moments of the year. During the days of the Málaga Fair, by day the city dresses up around Calle Larios. At night, the party moves to Cortijo de Torres, better known as “El Real,” a place with more than 80 hectares where the scents of the fair stalls, the colorful flamenco dresses, and the rhythm of verdiales and brass bands awaken all the senses. And for those who can last until the end of the night, it’s worth returning to the city center, the Plaza de la Constitución, to enjoy a comforting typical Málaga breakfast: an Antequera mollete, with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, tomato, and serrano ham. Declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2017, during Holy Week, Málaga fills with tourists and onlookers eager to experience this unique tradition firsthand. In addition to the traditional processions, the nightlife is more vibrant than ever, and going out partying is very easy, as many bars stay open until the early hours of the morning. Learn more.
If there is a time when the city dresses up, fills its streets with red carpets, and it’s common to share spaces with some of the most renowned Spanish actors, it is during the Málaga Film Festival in April. The city’s commitment to Spanish cinema turns it into a large open-air cinema for a week. At night, Málaga is full of glamour, and going out partying is almost a must. Learn more.

Historic Center Leisure Areas

This modern square, renovated in 1989 and dominated by a large pillar in the center, is another space where young people (and not-so-young) gather to start the night. Mostly occupied by terraces of bars and restaurants, cocktail bars and nightclubs are scattered around its surroundings. Here you will find nightclubs like Andén, one of the largest and most famous in the city, and the perfect place for fans of commercial music and “pachangueo
Another spot that should not be missing from Málaga’s nightlife itinerary is this square, also known as Plaza del Mercado, and the birthplace of Pablo Picasso. Around it, you can find restaurants, terraces, ice cream shops, and pubs, but especially on weekends, it is the meeting point for young people, who gather with their friends to start the night chatting and having a drink before heading to the clubs and nightclubs
